**Springfield Model 1903A1 National Match
.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 1465801. Blued metal refinish with polished bolt set in walnut semi-pistol grip C-stock with full length upper handguard. Bolt-action internal magazine fed repeating match rifle charged with stripper clips and mounting adjustable ladder rear notch and front blade sights. Receiver is marked U.S./SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/MODEL 1903 followed by the serial number. The serial number has been further marked on the bolt with electropen, correct for National Match rifles. Receiver further shows the dual vent ports aligning with holes in the bolt. Barrel mark reads SA/{Ordnance Bomb}/7-32, indicating it was made in Springfield Armory in July of 1932. Muzzle is struck with a star gauge at the 6 O'clock position. Bolt handle is struck with NS marking for Nickel Steel. Stock mounts a checkered trapdoor buttplate that is void of tools. Stock shows a circle P mark to the wrist and a strong S.A./S.P.G. cartouche of inspector Stanley P. Gibbs, who inspected the National Match rifles as one of his first tasks upon becoming an inspector at Springfield. Strong edges of the stock, paired with signs of refinish on the steel suggest the wood has been replaced, and that the Gibbs cartouche may be reapplied. Top of the handguard struck with part number D238179, again suggestive of replacement. The cutout for the safety is struck with an S. Rear sight correctly lacks the notch at the top, and comes with a P.J. O'HARE/SOUTH ORANGE, N.J./MADE IN U.S.A. marked rear sight cover, along with a detachable Model 1921 front sight cover. Currently mounts a pattern of 1907 Sling that is most likely a later replacement, and has been marked with ROSE, most likely applied by felt tip pen. Item appears to have been glass bedded at some point. {C&R}
